Wish Elena, especially this time, the very best. I'm so impressed by what she is doing at EBAT. I hope she can reach the levels that she would wish of herself.

Q1: SLATER, Nicola (GBR) 769 vs. KUKHARCHUK, Nika (RUS) [16] 467 (CH: 465 08/2012) H2H: N/A Winner to play either 23 year old Lauren Albanese (USA) 638 or 66 year old Gail Falkenberg (USA) UNR
#1 seed in Qualifying is Shelby Rogers WR218, so Bally just squeezes in to MD as of right without recourse to SR, if indeed she still has that option at this time and level.

Johanna faces the same opponent in the doubles alongside Nicola! R1: KONTA, Johanna/SLATER, Nicola (GBR/GBR) vs. POUS-TIO, Laura/BRENGLE, Madison (ESP/USA)

Is it very unusual to see someone of 66 years old playing in this type of tournament? I wonder what the record is for each level.
Fascinating to see what form Bally is in, as last year she was hampered with the injury and now she is fully fit but very very rusty. Wouldn't be surprised to see her have a good run here.
Seems like a tight match. 1 set all. 7-5 4-6. Elena was the player holding to 40 up until late in the 2nd set then Sharon starting winning the close games

Bally will be on livescores from 7 onwards, Bet 365 quoting her as 7/4 outsider. I might be a bit mad but I'm going to tip her for the upset.
I'm inclined to agree with you on this. I can see Bally winning today due to the excitement/adrenaline of her first competitive match but then suffering a reality check later in the week.
