RE: Week 14 - ITF $15K - Dijon, France - Hard

First set gone, apart from that one very competitive game, Coin won it pretty comprehensively. Hoping for better in the second.
1-6

And Emily, never one to give less than 100%, fights her way in to the second immediately.
3-0*

Good effort by Emily, but goes down 6-1 in the final set

QF: WEBLEY-SMITH, Emily (GBR) 431 lost to COIN, Julie (FRA) 198 [1] 1-6 3-6 1-6

Very good effort to take that second set, and Emily is showing nascent signs of a return to form.

If she can only have a decent period - hopefully the whole year at least - injury free, then I think she will prove some of her nay sayers wrong, some of whom had all but written her off completely.

Pity. Decent effort by Emily before being well beaten in the end.

I must say that I wasn't aware at all of Emily all but being written of by some folk.

Going back more than a couple of years there was some discussion re where she was heading, more about her schedule than anything. Then she had a great run in 2011, surging back up the rankings to a career high. She has had more than a fair share of injury and illness since.

Certainly not a girl to be discounted from turning it around again if she can stay fit and get a few decent wins under her belt.

I'd love to see her doing well but I can't see her breaking the top 350 again. Very few if any wins against top 300 players, a shame really because if everything came together earlier in her career she would probably have been up there wit Bally and Anne.
