RE: Week 13 - ITF $50K - Croissy-Beaubourg, France - Hard

To say this draw is full of players with career highs around 50 would be putting it mildly!

Jeremy was telling me last week that Annie played well last time in Mexico and even against Savchuk in defeat so it looks like she has maintained that form and maybe she has found a better way to manage the foot condition she has.

I suspect most of these were some time ago and most are on their way down the rankings.

I wonder how many have been inside the top 75 in the last 18 months? I'd guess only Anne K

QF:  (4) Alberta Brianti (ITA) & Anne Keothavong WR 328 defeated Tadeja Majeric & Anne Schäfer (SLO/GER) WR 521 by 5-7 6-2 [11-9]

*****

SF:  (1) Stéphanie Foretz Gacon & Eva Hrdinova (FRA/CZE) WR 184 vs (4) Alberta Brianti (ITA) & Anne Keothavong WR 328

The above two pairs are the only surviving seeds & interestingly, all four quarter-finals were decided by a match tie-break.

Anne's serving stats are insane, they have been all week so far, as have a few of the other girls'. I'm guessing these courts are particularly quick?

Unbelievable serving stats from both players. Both 80%+ on first serves. As you say, it was similar for Keothavong in her last match, pretty sure she won all 10 of her service games against Beltrame. Good to see. Amanmuradova's opponent in the first round (Zarina Diyas, I think) won her first four service games to love too, courts must be pretty quick.

I've never really thought of you as one of the big punners before, SC, but if you're making a bid for the hall of fame (*), that's a good start biggrin

(*) I mean hall of shame, obviously - but that's somewhere any good punner is proud to enter wink

I'm not really, & am in no way making a bid to enter the hall of fame/shame.  Indeed, other posters often get there before me with the more obvious ones, but that one was just too hard to resist when I spotted it. wink

*5-6

Looks like it's been an on-serve affair so far

Very tight first set, Annie does well to take it on the tie break 7-6(5)

When i looked just before the tie break, i think Anne had dropped 1pt on serve.

Good to see her take the tie break, but Akgul has just got the first break of the match.

Anne lost the second 6-4 - only the one break to Amanmuradova

1-0* in the third. Anne held to 15 in the first game of the decider
