Another day off for Robmond tomorrow based on the latest OOP.
Whilst I am glad to see Laura do well here there might be a slight downside in terms of her clay preparation vs other players once she gets to Charleston.
I don't see why she can't prep and/or do some practise for Charleston. I appreciate that the surfaces are different, but fitness is fitness and basic shots are basic shots. I can't imagine that the dubs practise would interfere too much. I do think that the two days between matches is OTT.
If two days off is overkill, at the other extreme the winner of Jankovic and Vinci play first match v Sharapova tomorrow at 5pm GMT and they are still playing now.
Whilst Laura will be getting in some good practice, she will need some time to adjust to the different pace, bounce and movement on clay (though maybe Palermo last year suggests otherwise). I still think the benefit outweighs the lack of clay practice so am pleased to see her doing well in the doubles.
I agree with Tony. the benefits outweigh the cons.
The privilege of playing at such a high level with such a star and doing so well. Look at how well she did after the Olympics on the back of a silver medal. Although I don't think that this is quite on that level, I do think it will have given her some valuable experience and the chance to gain point by point match experience and advice with a great champion.
