RE: Week 12 - WTA Premier Mandatory - Miami, FL, USA - Hard

Interesting to see at least two teenagers make it into the fourth round.
Tomljanovic (back, finally, from injury and looking very good again - another Croatian!) over Petkovic; and very strikingly, Muguraza over Wozniacki 6-2 6-4!

Lauren Davis also still has a chance - there may be others, I didn't look.

It's moving time amongst Laura & Heather's generation it seems, with several others (M'lady especialy, and Beck) recently powering on.

There's quite a lot that are finally coming through after a lull.
Keys, Svitolina, Putintseva, Vekic, are just some of the others. Exciting times.

Good to see Muguruza get the big win. I hear she is definitely not like your typical spanish female player.

In control at the first change of ends at 5-1

Dropped three points but won the next three 8-4

Held on to win 10-8 on third match pointb

Nearly paid for a slow start but good win in the end. I imagine Laura won't have found the very windy conditions today much fun.

Slow start. Both breaks on the sudden death point.
0-3*

Laura and Lisa have won 13 out of 25 points on serve yet have only held once to three breaks.

Not I great start but I can easily see them turning it around by the second set and taking it to a deciding tie break

My earlier prediction is looking quite good - that rarely happens.b

Often in these doubles matches I think if a team wins the first set and goes behind early in the second, they tend to give it up quite easily and save themselves for the deciding tie break.

Laura taking advantage of playing with a top doubles partner - the 250 points for a quarter final more that doubles her total

Good stuff.

Love it more, of course, if that was 250 singles ranking points, but still very good experience.
