Cheers Smidster - there seems to be an issue with the EWS scoreboard

Don't seem to be many games on live scores, but mostly Brits bar Dan Evans

My interpretation of th ITF livescores glitch is that its 6-2 0-6 0-2.

Emily lost 6-2 0-6 0-6

That's got to be fairly unusual!
I suppose 0-6 6-0 0-6 (or the inverse) would be even rarer.

Just remembered there was quite a close equivalent in Miami last night ... and in a men's match. Daydenko beat Lorenzi 6-0 2-6 6-0

Perhaps not so rare then

Or, maybe, it's like London buses.

In fact, 6 games is pretty good for a Brit against Vrljic - in the last year, Samantha lost 2 & 4 to her in Surprise, Lisa lost 3 & 2 in Glasgow, Jade lost 0 & 3 in Shrewsbury and Nik lost 3 & 0 to her in Lenzerheide; going back a bit further, Fran lost 0 & 4 in Glasgow in 2011, given Vrljic a 6-match Brit-bashing streak (with none of them winning more than 6 games) stretching back to when Naomi Cavaday beat her 4 & 2 in Ismaning in 2010

Sam Murray meanwhile broke de Vroome when she had served for the first set, to take it into a tie-break.
She then won that tie break to go a set up 7-6(5)

Close set, Sam winning more points, but De Vroome having more break chances.

If Sam wins, she's due to face Vrljic next. So hopefully she'll have a chance to reset that counter.

Steven. I appreciate it's important to be positive and look for silver linings rather than clouds, but I think that commending the number of games won in a match where one of our players was doubled bagelled may be pushing it a little!! w

Let's be clear, Vrljic is 28 years old and has been playing on the tour for over 10 years. She's ranked 232 now, and peaked at only 191 5 years ago, hardly indicating anything more than a good solid pro. No Vekic or Konjuh. Would we or should we really expect a player like Vrljic to be capable of a 6 match Brit bashing streak?

But Emily was expected to lose today, so the end result was no surprise.

Now we all know that Samantha should win comfortbly today, as she is ranked around 250 and beating similarly ranked players and even a few in the top 200 for fun just a few months back. her opponent has a very up and down history, and is just 16. Sam's a set up (just!) but surely the omens are good here at least.

The "6 games is pretty good for a Brit against Vrljic" was a bit tongue in cheek, but I was trying to make the point that this wasn't a comeback by a player the Brit would have been expected to beat or push close in the first place like some similar recent losses.

Sam, meanwhile, looked to be suffering a similar fate, down 0-4 in the 2nd, but has just got one of the breaks back.

Hopefully Sam can come through.

Quite strange how latterly in 2012 she seemingly quite suddenly found such form from somewhere ( certain changes to her game really working or whatever ) and has not been really able to reproduce again so far in 2013.

It would be really good if what she found in that period not so long ago, she could find again soon.

Well ideally in the next hour or so! s

Sam- pulled it back though, and as in the first set, broke De Vroome as she served for the set.
*4-5
