I do drool when I see his backhand operating at its best
People do get frightfully excited about single-handed backhands, don't they? Soooo much more stylish and elegant than the ugly-looking double-hander ...
However, the decline (*) of the single-hander over the last few years tells its own tale. Unless you're a genius like Federer, the single-hander is a major disadvantage. Unless you have the build of a Philippoussis, you just can't generate enough power from it, especially when you're playing balls at shoulder height.
(*) Actually, I was a bit surprised that as many as 6 out of the current top 30 ATP are single-handers - I thought it would be less.

That's RdV's first Challenger title since he won the same event 3 years ago. Clearly the Bogster came up against something of a Rimouski specialist!
Also, it's the 4th week in a row that Jamie has gone out to a player who ended up reaching the Final. (one of the losses was a semi-final loss, so in that case the conqueror reaching the Final was inevitable!)
