Grr a df gives away the break. Got his tactics wrong there rdv much better when either of them is at the net, Alex needs to keep this a back court game as best he can

I was following this on my phone while cooking and Alex seemed tobe doing really well early on. Gutting that the first bp he gave up was the one that won the set and his first df (after a whole set free of them) gave up the early break in the 2nd.

Gsm 64 63. A shame, Alex not able to find his tennis from the 1st 2 matches and whilst rdv didn't do too much he played well on all the big points and won pretty much everything when either player came forward.
Looking for positives Alex served well this week, I hope he can maintain that going further into the season.

Sad that Alex couldn't take even more advantage of about as good a draw as you can hope to get in Challengers these days, but de Voest is a decent player and at least he a) had a go at a Challenger and b) got to the QFs (only the 2nd Brit to manage that this year, though I probably already said that yesterday)
Stating the obvious, he's definitely capable of pushing James and Jamie for GB 2/3 if he can stay fit, but sadly staying fit that seems to be easier said than done these days for our two top over-28s.
