GSM 62 64. solid stuff from alex, nice way to build on the impressive 1st rd win.

Alex will play his 3rd qualifier in a row! next in De Voest who beat 6th seed Stebe 63 in the 3rd.

Well done, Alex!

The Stebe/de Voest match was a bit of a ding-dong battle, judging by the score:  7-6(4) 2-6 6-3 to the Springbok.  Curiously, the qualifiers were all in the bottom half of the draw!

QF:  (Q) Rik de Voest (RSA) WR 343 vs Alex Bogdanovic WR 310

de Voest result v Stebe not hugely surprising, though, is it? de Voest seems better than his ranking ... or is that just the local ancient of days conflating the years and thinking back to glory days long since past?

Challenger scene is so tough, isn't it - a 35K+H tournament with a sixth seed ranked 63 ....

Cheers for the welcome (a few pages back) - nice to see Bogdanovic progress to the QF earlier. A solid win.

Rik de Voest seems to have hit a bit of a purple patch recently, but I still think Bogdanovic has enough about him to edge him out. Last summer I watched RDV in Illinois, and he was all over the place - to be fair to him though he was carrying an injury and ended up retiring in the second set.

And another thing:  de Voest is even older than Boggo (32 as opposed to 28).... w
