Marcus does still seem pretty inconsistent, although clearly has overall stepped up a level this year. I wonder if he is still having some injury issues that I read reported after his initial successes this year.
I'm back, thought you were getting all the livescores, but Julia Carrott tweeted me to say you weren't so tried to get you some scores. 3G connection was very poor, so updates sporadic, would have helped knowing which courts you were getting scores for.
Always interesting speaking to the players directly and finding out their various injury niggles, so explaining lack of form etc.,
Liam has been struggling with a shoulder issue since the US open last year but now has a lighter racket which is helping to control this problem. He played very well at times today, in particular at the end of the second set when Neil was also playing tough. Greg is helping out Liam for a couple of weeks whilst Hilts is on holiday and he is learning loads at the moment. Was also very mentally strong today, learning this with experience, great example being when he had a BP to take the match into a second set TB and the umpire made a clear mistake, but it didn't let him upset him and he was able to stay focussed, break and then win the TB.
Marcus played OK during the short bit that I followed his match, but he's got himself into great shape and I hope he doesn't get upset at me for saying all his tennis gear looks a couple of sizes too big on him now as a result.
Dan was a break up in the first set against George when I left.
Once again, I'd like to apologise profusely to Neil Pauffley for being unreservedly supportive of him last year and during the off season; and to James Marsalek for being complimentary about his game style and potential for the future.
Clearly this has put the mockers on them for the whole of 2013 to date, and I feel a sense of shame that I have caused this to happen. I promise never to do this again!
There were others on this very forum who also indulged in this type of behaviour, but I don't want to "out" them in public. They know who they are.
