Tara has bigger fish to fry a 15k points wise wouldn't really improve her ranking that much anyway. Naomi and Mel need this level of victory more.
Another plus note Dani k and Sabrina not proving to be the canon fodder today we expected battling away
Danielle is very young still and has already shown signs of much much better things to come from her early tournaments on the ITF tour. Already a very creditable showing against a "nearly" top 200 player. She could hardly be described as "cannon fodder".
Sabrina's performance is clearly a lot better than last week so far.

Don't underestimate the number of people who consider themselves part of this forum but rarely post either. The number of times I've posted must barely be in double figures *awaits published post and looks to the left* but I check the forum at least three times a day.
I don't comment because I often don't feel the need to or I don't want to repeat what someone's already said (I also can't watch live scores, short attention span!) but I feel very much part of the forum community. I'm sure I'm not the only one!
Me, I remember watching ITF scores like a dweeb and noticing this British guy I had never heard of win back to back Futures in Spain. Given the competitiveness of Spanish futures, had to keep a tab on him. Then he took Niemenen to three sets on his ATP debut (I think I remember right, I may be wrong about who he took to three sets, I think it was in Valencia) and I thought he really did have something about him. And then I found here.
After that, stangely, I got more interested in other upandcoming Futures/Challenger talent, thanks to rather more knowledgeable folk than me.... and this is why I stayed. You don't need this board to keep track of Andy any more!
To say Naomi had a fantastic serving day would be a huge under-statement. 12 aces, and until the last game, she'd dropped just 4 points on serve (1 a DF). Very comfortable.
Meanwhile to say Ana Konjuh got spanked today would probably be even more of an under-statement. She only managed 3 points on her opponents serve (Witthoeft, one to watch I think) throughout the match and struggled on every one of her own serves, being broken 5 times. i am staggered, given her pedigree and her extraordinary, almost superhuman performances since November, but she has just turned 15....it's often easy to forget.
Tara easing herself back into contention after dropping first set easily (no surprise after her recent woes, little time to recover, new country, new surface)
I'd actually wondered if Tara would give this tournament a miss all things considered. I see she's won set 2 so that's encouraging.
I see she's no 1 seed, but it's a really tight group of seeds and even then outwith the seeds, so probably many will feel that they have good chances here.
Again, seems a ridiculously stong field seeing the rankings of the non seeds.
Please remember that the Belgian girl was an elite junior and expected to be a top 50 senior player AT LEAST. Just been absolutely hammered by injuries.
Given the strength of the draw, i'd be more than happy if Tara got to the QF and if any of the other Brits made the QF that would be an unexpected bonus.
