RE: Week 11 - Great Britain F7 ($10,000) Bath -Hard

While there is quite a lot to be said for playing abroad, for most of the GB players the priorities are ranking points and prize money, and of course there are cost implications too.

Oli and Kyle are in a rather different boat, looked on as real prospects and with a lot of suppprt given to them. There is also less pressure at the moment, particularly with Kyle, for ranking points, so able to look for what gives the best experience and tennis education.

Dan takes the 1st set 6-3. A bit like his match against Marcus last week by the looks of it - lots of close games but Evo has avoided facing a break point.

Actually Steven, I think Evo staved off 5 BPs in the first set.

Sometimes the ITF livescores stats go haywire, and you need to either resfresh or flip to another match and back to bring up the kosher stats. I suppose that's what a soft launch is supposed to iron out.

So he did - I just reloaded the live scores page and the stats had changed!

Seems to be a lot of breaks of serve in the 3rd set.

Dan leads *2-1 with three service breaks in three games.

Break points galore in the last game, but Dave holds on. Evo still a break up *4-3

13 wins in a row for Dan now (even if he did 'cheat' by getting 4 of them in qualies he wouldn't have played if he had entered in time wink)

I'm surprised Dan's not slipped up this week - I thought a measure of tiredness would be catching up with him. He must have done some decent fitness work, though I guess in mitigation many of the matches have been two setters. Still, credit for coming through in the third today!

it says a lot about how dan's feeling that he entered the doubles, surely if he thought tiredness may have been an issue he wouldnt of entered

Final H2H: 2-2, Ed winning their last meeting (Preston QFs earlier this year) easily - I doubt it will be as one-sided tomorrow!

That was a good read RJA. Many thanks for that.

Based on what you saw today, who is your tip for the final ?

I would have to tip Evo for the simple reason that he is just a much better player than Ed so if Evo plays well he will win, if he doesn't who knows. Ed is obviously on a good run at the moment and while you can't knock that I remain unconvinced that he will go much beyond top 300. His game is solid but rather one dimensional and I don't think he has enough to trouble challenger level players.

I may of course be letting my biases get the better of me but I make no apologies for saying that I always prefer players with craft, guile and variety. I hope that Ed makes a good career for himself but his playing style leaves me somewhat uninspired.
