It could be argued that, given that he has a bye in the first round of the singles, a doubles encounter will at least give him a taste of a competitive match before he takes on Donskoy or Ito & allow him to get used to the courts again...

Andy appears to have decided to brush up on his doubles skills in partnership with "Big Bruv" - & they ain't drawn an easy opener!

R1:  (5) Robert Lindstedt & Nenad Zimonjic (SWE/SRB) vs (WC) Andy Murray & Jamie Murray

R1:  Tommy Haas & Xavier Malisse (GER/BEL) vs Colin Fleming & Paul Hanley (AUS)

Especially since he hasn't played competitively since the AO.

Quite right, Spectator.  I had meant to include a reference to his long break from competition in that comment, but somehow contrived to omit it!  The whole point of referring to a "competitive match" was to give myself an appropiate opening...! ashamed

Given I have already aired views about my concerns as to how long Andy has been missing ( and that not exactly filling me with confidence for his singles here ), I would have to say it does seem a very fair point that the doubles will give him some competitive action...

....and maybe help Jamie with a few doubles ranking points !

I can't usually be bothered to watch the ATP (or, for that matter, WTA) 'fashion' slots but 'sensible' Mr Murray does a very good job of showing complete disdain for Flembo's attempts to be ą la mode smile

The brothers Murray are 3rd up after 19:00 UK, on court 7.
Mr. Fleming is 5th up, and last, after 19:00, on Court 4.
