Here's a bit of a turn-up for the books:

QF:  Maniel Bains & Dan Evans UNR defeated (2) Ed Corrie & Neal Skupski WR 1132 by 7-6(8) 7-5  disbelief

And arguably another one:

QF:  George Coupland & James Marsalek WR 2017 defeated (4) Timo Nieminen & Juho Paukku (FIN/FIN) WR 1613 by 2-6 6-2 [13-11]  biggrin

*****

SF:  (1) David Rice & Sean Thornley WR 461 vs George Coupland & James Marsalek WR 2017

SF:  Sander Gille & Jonas Merckx (BEL/BEL) UNR vs Maniel Bains & Dan Evans UNR

That's the 2nd week in a row Tom Burn has been in the draw and been replaced by a LL! Does that mean he's travelled to both Cardiff and Shrewsbury at the weekend to sign in only to then realise he's unfit to play just a few days later?

To answer my own question, apparently Tom Burn is just very unorganised and is currently coaching rather than playing and didn't had any intention of playing this run of GB tournaments.

Edit - corrected 'organised' to 'unorganised'

Hurry up Josh, Jamie Baker's on court soon - seem to be an awful lot of Brits still competing on a Friday

Yes, 11 in singles! It's mainly because the main draw here started on Wednesday whereas usually the men's Futures main draws in the UK start on Tuesday.

Am I missing something here ? If that is the case, it doesn't seem very organised and is certainly rather unprofessional to delay his official withdrawal so late that he is replaced by a LL.

Seems like a prize tool and very disorganised if that's true.

Watch this space for Josh praising Ebenezer Scrooge for being cheerful, Alex Fergiscum for having a clear complexion and Chris Huhne for driving carefully.

Organised or not (clearly not - I had assumed Josh was being sarcastic), as Fitzy found out in Japan when he got forced to withdraw really late, the fines are pretty steep, so it's not a good idea to leave it that late if you don't have to, quite apart from any lack of consideration to other players.

Marcus bags the second set by 6-4 to take the match into a decider.

I'm hoping for the two out of form players Goodall and Evans to clash in the semi final, whilst in the other half i'd like to see a Corrie v Willis semi final, with Evans and Willis to contest the final. Not that i think this will happen though.

realistically it should be a final of Josh v the comeback kid
