By my calculations Ed Corrie needs another 40 odd points to break into the top 300. There is a four week run in the UK, where he must be in with a good chance of getting 30+ points given that he will be seeded and he is the in form player.
Surely Ed must be looking to step up to S15K or $25K tournaments when these four events are over.
Perhaps Ed might make it out to Mexico in April for the three Challengers that are over there in April. Two of the three events are +H, so he'd have accomodation paid for whilst he remained in the draws. He is used to the heat and travel after his time at Uni on the US. Most events in Europe are on clay in the spring which isn't really to his liking. He might have to qualify though, but that shouldn't scare him.
How does Ed get funded? I'm sure the LTA would give him a soft loan if needed. Anyway, there is every chance he'd make a profit on the trip. It has been a long time since we've had a player show such dominance at Furures level, 17 wins out of 18 matches is a feat not often achieved. I think he'll have too much for Richard Gabb in the semis tomorrow...
Are there a couple of glitches in the ITF website live scoring table.
I am watching the doubles and at 5-3 deuce, it went to "ad" when there is no ad scoring and then it has given the match to Ed and Neil at 8-6 in the MTB.
An interesting question, Mr Corrie's funding. Does the LTA have any flexibility to act when someone's prospects improve so dramatically? Can they offer funding before the next round of team selection? (That would be genuine funding, not a loan) Then again, he must be picking up bonus money on a fairly substantial basis.
Another nice win for Messrs Rice and Thornley, even if their opponents were unranked. And if Mr Corrie and Mr Skupski the younger have indeed just managed to beat the reigning Wimbledon doubles champion and a former AO (junior) doubles champion, that's not too bad for people just starting their futures careers.

Or maybe, I'm just going mad
It looks like a glitch although that doesn't necessarily mean you're not going mad. The MTB score was 12-10 to Ed and Neil.

This only applies to the main draw, so if he has to go through qualifying then he'll have to pay for his own accommodation until he qualifies. If he fails to qualify that's a whole week out of his own pocket.
Very pleased that Ed Corrie keeps on winning even though, based on the fact that he once again went a set and a break down, I suspect he's not actually playing at his best........but once Ed got going, he really did steamroller Alex, getting stronger and stronger as the match went on.
I'm sure there's more to come, if and when he gets to top form from the start of matches, and confidence shouldn't be a problem! Woudln't bet against him coming through the whole week once again.

What a difference a year makes (though he still plays heaps of matches early in the year!) - in 2012, Ed was toiling through big qualifying draws (in USA/TUR) a bit like Kyle this year and went 24-6 in Jan/Feb for just 6 ATP points (includes R1 of a Turkish Fut on 29 Feb 2012) - this year he is 19-2 in Jan/Feb and has picked up 54 points, 9x as many!

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
With Lewis playing tomorrow and down for quals in Lille next week (quals sign in for Lille is tomorrow at 6pm) what is the ruling for SE's and late withdrawals if he decided to just sign in and play Shrewsbury quals instead (sign in for that being the saturday night)?
Just noticed from Helen Parish's table that Josh Goodall is now the career best ranking scalp for no less than 7 different Brits - Ashley Hewitt, Neil Pauffley, Tom Burn, Maniel Bains, Neil Bamford, Tom Farquharson and now Richard Gabb here this week. That must be some kind of record, albeit a very unwanted one!
And further weeks of GB futures coming up for Josh to possibly continue to offer this service to scalp taking...or maybe he will find some better form.

I know that you don't get accomodation until you have qualified, but I used the plural because I think  you do sleep foc if you  are in the doubles draw.  I think he only has this week to improve  his ranking in terms of making the cut for the Mexican or French hard court challenger on April 1st, but I'm sure sombody will correct or confirm....In any case, Ed is going to have to do some long haul flights if he wants to avoid the dirt and win some worthwhile points.
As expected both Ed and Freddie are comfortably winning their semi finals. It will make an interesting final to see how far Ed has progressed. I would still make Freddie favourite.
Doubles final will be interesting - i fancy the top seeds to get turned over.
Thanks for the update. Between the doubles final today and the potential singles final tomorrow, people attending Cardiff could well be getting quite a treat!
