Getting killed on the deuce points. There's been plenty but they've won just one

Some late resistance - two match points saved including an ace by Anne on a deciding point. 4-5*

What was that smash on match point by Val?!

Never mind. Great achievement for Anne this week.

All over 0-6 4-6 a good effort in the end after being outclassed for the first set.

Savinykh missed as easy a smash as you will ever see on match point

Positive week for Anne overall. She gave a competitive performance in singles on return from injury and a good doubles run.

Glad that they recuperated in the second set. Well done to reach the final. Hurrah for Ms Keothavong.

Very well beaten in the final, but good that they got that far.

There are times when I find women's tennis at the top end a little frustrating, especially the belt the ball as hard as you can and scream your head off brigade. I miss volleys, slices, dropshots, changes of spin, speed and trajectory. A bit of variety.

But at least you do get a few more surprise results than in the men's game, especially at smaller WTA tournaments. But this weekend looks absolutely bizarre.

At this tournament, the final is Puchkova vs Niculescu! Niculescu slaughtered M'Lady in the semi 0 & 2, a classic example I suspect of a belt and scream player coming up against a player with variety and not having a clue what to do. She will learn.

And over in Kuala Lumpur the final is one of the Pliskova twins vs (probably, they are still playing) Mattek-Sands.

Well done to Anne for reaching a doubles final. I can't get too excited about it....these final set 10 point TBs do allow a lot more random results to happen than full sets would IMO. More interested in her singles rehabilitation, so next week in Mexico will be a good yardstick.

I can't say I like the present version of doubles. With no proper final set and no advantage points after deuce all the tension that makes tennis so exciting seems to be missing.

I particularly diislike no advantage tennis. It's a great scoring system, having to win games by 2 poinrs with game points often going back and forth.

I can kind of live with MTBs, although maybe those more into doubles would prefer full final sets.

(although actually there wasn't a single walkover in the Florianopolis doubles tournament - could this be a first?)

Even the WTA liked the angle of Anne's first final: http://www.wtatennis.com/news/article/3096486/title/personal-breakthrough-for-keothavong
