First British involvement in a WTA final this year - and I don't think anyone thought it would be Anne.

Tough assignment but the doubles rules of no ad scoring and MTB gives any team a chance.

Agreed. Very tough proposition indeed.

Anne & Valeria have been quite good though, and seem to get on well.

As a side note...

I watched Anne's singles match, and she was better than I've seen her since Wimbledon last year. 

Very competitive against Mladenovic - just about the hottest player in the second 50 at the moment.

Time and again, Anne constructed good points, moving m'lady out of position and opening up the court for the winner, only to blaze the forehand (invariably) two feet long.

I can't remember how many times Anne had 30-0* but couldn't get a break point. Which is gredit to the French defence, but also speaks of Annies ability still.

I felt more positive about her game after that match than for a very long time.
I hope it's not her last WTA singles MD match...

0-3* not a great start, but the last two games have been won by a deciding point. Savinykh playing better than Anne at the moment but early days.
