Pity. Looks reasonably competitive, but not getting the Ws this year.
And now when you take off the points Anne is defending in the IW fortnight, she'll start off "in running" for the post IW fortnight rankings ranked behind Tara when they meet up for the Mexico 25K next week.
This match could have been a LOT less competitive than it was, given current form, fitness and trajectory. Not a bad effort really from Anne. Not convinced that either her or Bally will make it back to the top 100, but I'm sure both will bust a gut trying. Would be nice for Anne and Tara to avoid each other in Mexico (in the draw!) and both to have good runs (in the tournament, not food related!)
Good to see Anne doing so well in the doubles here as it's been a bit of a slow news week otherwise. She won't get many more chances at a WTA title so this is now quite a big final for her.
So far Anne has taken the Andy and Laura Olympics route to the final - win the first set, lose the 2nd set, win the MTB. Let's hope for a different final result.
Puchkova has finally finished off Venus 7-5 in the 3rd (despite double faulting 3 times the first time she served for the match!) so Anne's Final will be satarting in a few minutes - official stream at http://www.e-tennis.tv/ though I'm not certain they're going to show it yet ...
