Disappointing that JoKo fell away so badly (particularly on serve) after sneaking a tight first set, but this match was always a tough proposition.

Poor JoKo - that means she has lost 9 of her last 10 matches that have gone to 3 sets, i.e. all of those she has played since the start of the US Open main draw except the 3-set win against Sevastova in AO Q.

Looking at things in a more positive light, 8 of her last 9 wins have come in straight sets and she has only lost in straight sets once in that time.

That was a tough draw for JoKo as Castano is a classy player on clay, she qualified easily so Jo could have had a much easier draw.
