QF: MOORE, Tara (GBR) 242 v BRENGLE, Madison (USA) 7 236 (CH 152 in 2011)
H2H 0-3, including the 3 & 0 loss at the same stage last week. Brengle has now won her last 14 sets, handing out 7 bakery products in her last 5 matches (starting with last week's QF) and has dropped just 1 game in her 4 sets so far this week!

It will be Brengle next, and a chance for revenge. Brengle though has lost a grand total of one game so far in her two matches this week, making Tara's nine games lost look positively pedestrian.
The match is second up after 18:00 UK time tomorrow - if it makes any difference, that's an hour later than matches have been starting to date.
Good luck Ms. Moore.

Great win! I think the matches vs Lisa and Coin show how good Tara is when shes swinging freely and with confidence - very difficult to match that sort of ball striking.
Nothing to lose vs Brengle, expect straight set loss though.
Tara is/ was down to playing qualies at the new WTA in Florionapolis in Brazil next week (Anne should be MD) but I'm assuming win or lose she won't be playing?
Interesting points spread Tara has in her 16 countable ranking scores before this week :
5 single figure scores, 9 scores in the range 12 to 15, and just 2 higher scores ( 24 from Woking and 64 from Kazan ).
There are a few points that flow from that :
1) It is essentially that one big Kazan score that has really pushed her into the top 250 ( a 14 point average would leave her probably just inside that top 250 )
2) Such as 14 point scores have increasingly less net effect as they replace lower scores ( 2 weeks ago she added 13 net points, last week 12, and this week would add 10 if she again stops at 14 for a QF ).
3) So while she is incremently likely to improve her CH with teen scores, she will need bigger scores ( hopefully quite a number ) to really progress up the rankings in the short term and to mitigate against when Kazan comes off longer term.
Overall though, although I have said that I think the jury is still out to an extent on het year so far, it does look encoraging and I think the bigger scores will come, if not this week ( but hopefully so ) then not far down the line.
Getting into French and US Open qualifying could be very productive ( 40 points for a Q1 win, thank you very much ), although I am not really sure about Tara on clay. I am assuming that she will get a Wimbledon MD WC.
Anyway, go Tara today ! I think beating Brengle would be a very good marker and possibly lead to much more this week.
D'oh I thought she had played her more recently (I even half-remembered finding the 2008 match when I looked up the H2H last week) but assumed I must be mistaken when I saw http://www.wtatennis.com/head2head/player1/13751/player2/11981. Does that mean the 25K results go on WTA a week late like the 25K rankings do or do WTA miss some lower level matches completely?
I'll wait and edit properly once the draw has been updated on the ITF site and I can check the H2H definitively there.
Edit: or I can avoid waiting by going to last week's draw on ITF ... that worked
Fantastic win, anyway, overturning not just Brengle's 14-set winning streak but also her own 0-3 record against the American. It should take Tara to a new career high in the 220s, but hopefully there's more to come this week!

$25Ks should now be Tara's bread and butter mixed with regular higher events. She needs to get her first $25K title and then follow it with others. In Mel's best year leading to her ranking of 99 she won two $25Ks and was a finalist in three others. The confidence she got from that success carried over into the higher events and clocked up lots of ranking points.
