She usually has a horror start to the year so this is a major improvement, just got to finish off these bigger 25k tournies, shown she can do it at 10k level already this year.
My sense though is also that she is in better form than last year on top of that, we shall see !
From watching Tara play, just pure game style, talent, aggression, etc my instinct is that she and Heather are probably on a par with each other. If every ounce of potential were squeezed out of both (Henman style - I think he got the max out of what he had) - you could see top 20 players, probably no higher, but still very very good players. Of the GB girls in Surprise, only Tara probably has this much "upside" as the Americans might say.
Heather has clearly worked harder to date, almost the model pupil in many ways, and has progressed further. I agree with Indy that, no matter how Tara approaches her tennis and indeed her life, I'm still pretty certain she will make top 200, possibly even top 150 sometime soon. And she may be happy with that. I believe that if she tried to out Heather Heather on the work ethic front the rewards are there for the taking......but there are probably very few on the tour prepared to go that far.
Excellent result for Tara and almost certainly a new career high when the points get added. Looking at the rankings, there are a lot of players ahead of her with very few points covering them, so a great opportunity to jump quite a few places with some more wins.
I assume Tara has a week off next week and then a 25K in Mexico, before returning to the UK to play Bath 15K

Just for clarification re korriban's above post, I said that Tara would hopefully reach the top 200, but nothing to do with "no matter how she approaches her tennis and indeed her life". But rather simply by playing tennis as she has been over the last 8 or 9 months.
Her thrashing of Lisa last week and now this certainly suggests that Tara has got the hang of that 'leaving sentiment outside the court when you play your friends' thing
Given when the match was played in Arizona time, hopefully this is the kind of 1 and 2 in the morning action from Tara we can all be happy about (sorry korriban, I couldn't resist ... and yes, I know the result was 2 & 1 not 1 & 2 )

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Congratulations to Tara for a great match, which backs up her excellent run of form in 2013. Ruthless and clinical, even more impressive as it was against a good friend. Don't talk about the match - you may have to play her again very soon!
Tomorrow represents a fantastic chance to avenge last week's one-sided defeat, rack up another 10 ranking points, and move closer to a maiden $25k tournament victory.....so get some well deserved kip before the next big match! Well done!
