RE: Week 8 - ITF ($25K) - Surprise, USA - Hard

Great stuff from Tara biggrin dealing with Chirico's propensity to come back from a set down in ruthless fashion!

Hard to believe this is her first 25K singles title but I doubt it'll be the last. She should be top 210 on Monday week and only about 30 points from the top 200 with nothing to defend until June.

Great effort Tara. No panic, utterley ruthless and job done in double quick time. A perfect week, which more than makes up for any little blips earlier in the trip. If she keeps up this momentum, a likely call up to the Fed Cup, albeit probably not quite this year.......although who knows?

Whatever hard work she has done in the off-season, and which her coaching team seems to have paid off spectacularly well, and lets hope she consolidates over the coming months towards a ranking around 150, which must be achievable surely.

Also great to perform in front of her new boss, and hopefully earn as much support as she needs.

Amazing stress free performance to wrap up an awesome week.

So clinical and to-the-point - I dont suppose Louisa is a friend of hers is she? wink

A week off  before another 25k is that right?

As Tara seems to be listening biggrin.gif I though I would check what else I said

Earlier in the week I said:-
"Now would be a good time for Tara to win her first $25K singles title."

So that's good. biggrin.gif

and then followed it with:-
"$25Ks should now be Tara's bread and butter mixed with regular higher events. She needs to get her first $25K title and then follow it with others. In Mel's best year leading to her ranking of 99 she won two $25Ks and was a finalist in three others. The confidence she got from that success carried over into the higher events and clocked up lots of ranking points."

Following Tara's progress looks as if it could be very rewarding in the coming year. biggrin.gif

Correct - $25k in Mexico, followed by $15K in UK.

That looked like a very professional performance from Tara. She no doubt took on board Chirico's ability to come back from a set down and decided to put the pressure on at the start and keep the pressure on to the very end and not give Chirico time to get into top gear.

The 15k is in Bath so I'll be able to pop along and watch her there.

Too many for now. 30pts off breaking into top 200. Another 300+ to get into top 100. Let's not get carried away yet....

At present the Mexico 25K has 9 top 200 players entered, including Anne so Tara will have to raise her game again to get into the later stages. Bath is my nearest venue so I hope to go along and get some photographs.

Two challengers cancelled that week, so the field for Bath will probably be very strong.
