RE: Week 8 - WTA Premier ($2M) Dubai, UAE - Hard

It's a shame. I really like Rebecca.
I hope she can get back to a happy place, whatever she does.
My work is broadly in this area (depression & mental illness), and I appreciate how difficult it is.
Best wishes to Ms. Marino.

A close friend of Laura's from the tour just wrote this article about Marino and Laura with reference to cyber bullying, it would seem that the tweets on a regular basis with sexual innuendo and then the harsh comments after her match from earlier this week were the reasons for Laura to initially delete her account.

It's weird isn't it that you have 170000 followers with probably 95% of them writing positive tweets yet it is the other 5% that cause the damage and outweigh the good provided by the heavy majority.

Better news about Laura today, went to see the specialist and was prescribed stronger medication and that appears to have done the trick.

Oh and she's also signed up with Virgin Active UK to act as their ambassador together with Bouncy Castle for 2 years. Apparently she was just on the local ITV news with Sir Richard Branson.

Nice to hear Laura sounding so positive. The infection was something that needed to be sorted but you can understand her keenness to play in tournaments at the start of the year.

She should be raring to go by Indian Wells, and she needs to hit the ground running with only 2 tournaments in 4 weeks or she will be lacking in match practice for a while.

Good to hear that about Laura. Hopefully the infection is sorted and just a pity it lingered so long.

These are going to be two potentially important mandatories coming up with good points to be potentially won. Laura and Hev, mainly due to the Aussie Open, have scored decently overall for the first two months of the season, at least as well as their general play deserved. And it would be good to see them stepping it up, particularly if hit by tougher draws.

And then there will be the little matter of putting these Argies in their place !
