RE: Week 8 - WTA ($235K) - Memphis, USA - Hard

Excellent win and probable career high - Lisicki is still going in Memphis and Hev will go past Ardvidsson if she fails to win today.

And in only an hour & 55 minutes, too! wink  I see Marina's also involved in a three-setter, with Sofia Arvidsson, the second seed...

Yup, could do Hev a favour in beating her and guaranteeing the new CH as paulisis indicated.
Both due to drag their weary bodies back on court in 2 matches time for the dubs too!

Well done to Hev. Very decent scoreline in the last two sets. I wasn't hugely confident even before the start so very pleased.

Also another 30 points for the third time this year wouldn't have greatly helped her ranking points total. Indeed, she will have to drop 30s for mandatory scores come Indian Wells and Miami. 70 points at least is much better.

But we want more !

Well done Heather! What I love about her is the ability to scrap and often find a way to win, even when playing below her best. Fantastic, and Voegele is playing VERY well this year, so she'll need to up her game even more to win through to the semis.

But if anyone can,....

Looks as if Heather will now be WR 38 "in running" :

Straightforward by Hev's standards and I do sense that in patches she is playing some decent tennis, just not for the whole match.

Shouldn't fear anyone left in the draw and real potential to go all the way.

Heather and Marina got the first break in the 5th game and held on.
Serving at *4-3 but 2 break points against at *15-40. Clawed back to deuce; that'd be DD for death deuce.
And broken back so 4-4 and on serve. Very even now with 25 points apiece.

So, our girls are serving at *4-5. It was 0-30 at one point, back to a game point at 40-30, DD and hold for 5-5.

Officially is deuce where "death deuce" applies considered a BP, and similarly 30-40, 15-40 and 0-40 considered as 2, 3 and 4 BPs respectively ?

Can't say I've ever liked DD.

It clearly saves a bit of time, but it loses the essense of seeing games out by converting one of sometimes many break or hold points. Tennis in essense has a wonderful scoring system.
