RE: Week 8 - WTA ($235K) - Memphis, USA - Hard

GSM Watson/Erakovic 6-2 6-0
48 minutes on court, probably like a scheduled training session. Good work, and hopefully the good feeling transmits somehow to Hev's singles.

Heather is 2nd up after 16:00 UK tomorrow.

Her potential opponents (Oudin/Hlavackova) are currently on court, 1 set each - though they've only been playing 78 minutes, which is about Hev's current average for one set!

Doubles QF vs. Pegula/Lee-Walters (USA/USA) is also tomorrow.

Hlavackova won but not impressively, looking good for Hev's chances tomorrow.

Hev is 2-1 against Hlavackova (WR 68, CH 58 last Sep) and the H2H is 2-1 - a loss in Sutton in 2010 then wins 3 & 5 here (i.e. Memphis) in 2011 and in 3 sets in Tokyo last year.

5-2 Come on Hev.

Winner plays Voegele and with defending champ, Arvidsson, in trouble, Hev, if she wins, may be the only seed left in the bottom half of the draw.

And in only an hour & 55 minutes, too! wink  I see Marina's also involved in a three-setter, with Sofia Arvidsson, the second seed...

And Erakovic won by 6-1 3-6 6-3 in an hour & 48 minutes! biggrin  They shouldn't be too cream-crackered, come their doubles match.

Officially is deuce where "death deuce" applies considered a BP, and similarly 30-40, 15-40 and 0-40 considered as 2, 3 and 4 BPs respectively ?

Yes, or at least it is in the Mens Doubles so I presume the WTA is the same.

Death Deuce is either a break point for the receivers or a game point for the servers.

The girls got the break and are serving for the set at *6-5 but once again being challenged on their serve at *0-30. OK, so *15-30, 15-40 and that's 2 break backpoints.  Looking like a tie-breaker ...

The previous match which just coincidentally plays the winner of the next match is going into a decider which delays Hev's match.

Can't say I'm filled with confidence that this is going to end well. But I do know rarely to write off Hev.

C'mon !
