Dani served very well. 67% first serves in play with plenty of aces and unreturned first serves, holding very easily much of the time and saving 4bps late in the 2nd set with super serving. In total contrast, even when she got it in, Laura's first serve had no penetration and her first groundstroke after the serve was either wild or totally passive, with the exception of one service game in which she put away several clean winners. Given the way Dani was serving, Laura needed to serve brilliantly to have a chance, instead she was way below her usual standard.

In amongst a lot of rubbish, there were a few nice touches from Laura: a delicate drop shot from close to the net and a sliced backhand when defending were promising signs.

Yanina Wickmayer has just retired against Roberta Vinci so Laura's match should start soon.

Tough one to call, could easily go either way, but with both players being a bit short of preparation after the Fed Cup I wouldn't be surprised with a one-sided scoreline in either direction.
