whether it's a consolation for singles, or an additional bonus, still can't be told, as though Tara & Lisa's singles have finished some time ago, they're not on the score service as they were on minor courts, here's hoping for good news...

Two excellent wins, especially Lisa's

L16: Lisa Whybourn WR 291 beat Zuzana Zlochová (SVK) WR 265 by 2 & 1 biggrin
L16: (8) Tara Moore WR 250 beat (Q) Mayo Hibi (JPN) WR 388 = CH, 16yo) by 3 & 1

QF: Lisa Whybourn WR 291 v (1) Julie Coin (FRA) WR 205 (CH 60 in 2009)
QF: (8) Tara Moore WR 250 v Danka Kovinic (MNE) WR 275 (CH 270 in Dec)

Lisa lost 1 & 0 to Coin in Glasgow last year, while Tara beat Kovinic 7-6(4) 6-4 in Dubai last year.

Very good.

As well as Lisa likely taking out her CH, Tara with her very consistent start to the year ( now 11 succesive wins ) continues to inevitably hone in on her CH of WR 233. It will probably take at least a final appearance here to achieve a new CH with this tournament.

Surely pre-5 AM can't count as morning, I still need to go to sleep tonight! Unless you're up super early ready for Fed Cup! Nevertheless, good results from here and Wardy in Aus. Hopefully one or two of the 3 still running can win the title this week, in addition to the guaranteed British titleist in Wirral to make it a great week for GB tennis!

I don't know if it's been mentioned earlier on this thread, but a Brit (JoKo) is the reigning champion here ... even if she wasn't a Brit when she won it!

Hmmm, unfortunately Fridays are 'early out to work' mornings for me. I will hopefully still be home see who has been selected to play today but after that no internet access until late this pm

Third break in a row, this time to love, 0-6  in 20 minutes.

Tara - you've just won 12 matches in a row, you beat this girl in straight sets in November - why am I immediately thinking that something about her preparation for this match wasn't quite what one would expect? Harsh maybe, but.....

Second set begins....

Don't know enough about Kovinic to assess if Tara is having a bad day or she is up against some one on the up. Tara has had a good run and 25K challengers are about her level now as she is too good for most 10k's.

Tara beat her in straight sets 3 months ago. The maximum number of points won in a row for Tara in the first 9 games was 1! Something must be wrong - injury, illness or preparation

...followed by 8 points in a row to break back on serve at 2*-3. I can only assume she wasn't ready to play, and has now arrived.

.....now 4-4. Is it too soon to say we now have a proper match. Fingers crossed...

No!! 0-6 4-6. There is something really "up" with this performance. The first 9 games were effectively gifted - at this level to not manage more than a single point in a row for 9 games straight is just unheard of. After all opponents make errors too. After that a good match, but it was too late.

I'm 100% sure we will never know what actually happened.
