Hopefully won't be too much longer before you can retire for the night.

Wardy did well to dig himself out of that hole and hold serve there.

Hope so.

Good work from James there fighting back from 0-30 to hold. Been some frequent and competent net approaches and play from James in the second half of this match.
1-6 6-3 5-3*

And he does, to love GSM Ward 1-6 6-3 6-4

Can't explain the woeful first set, but after he broke in the second, he picked up, and got better pretty much consistently all the way to the end.
Well done James. Time for me to hit the road to dream land.

A decent win and surely a chance of a QF place.

In R2 he'll face qualifier James Lemke WR 552

L32: James Ward WR 270 beat (6) James Duckworth (AUS) WR 226 (CH 167 last May) by 1-6 6-3 6-4 biggrin

L16: James Ward WR 270 v (Q) James Lemke (AUS) WR 552 (CH 224 in 2011)

Lemke claims to be a clay court specialist according to TA.

Good stuff that James turned this round so well.  I was more than a little concerned when I saw the first set score.

Rain stopped play in Australia before James could take the court, and it appears to be a washout now.

The order of play is out for Thursday with James first up at 10am local (11pm UK?), with his QF match to follow in the afternoon, should he win through. Likely to be third seed John Millman.
