With the exception of perhaps Lisa Whybourn, this is a field where Sam and Tara should be streets ahead of the rest both from a ranking and form perspective, albeit its Sam's first tournament of the year after a strong finish to 2012.
By rights, they both ought to be marching to the final without dropping a set. If that happens, we might expect very good things from them both this year.
Lisa's loss is a shock, though an Irish guy who was asking me is I knew Amy & Sinead's results yesterday said Sinead is only 17 and "could be very good". (I can hear Ratty laughing at that phrase already LOL, but still maybe not as big a shock as it appears)

Just noticed it's very much 'ancient' Brits v teenagers now - Tara is the youngest Brit left in at 20, while Dodin and Honigová are 16, Lohan is 17, Moratelli is 18 and Bowtell is 19.

I hope Sinead doesn't turn out to be another Bowtell, and Brit bash her way through 10ks for the next few years. At least they have to face each other now!

If Sinead's surname is anything to go by then perhaps she has already peaked at 17 and her career will spiral rapidly downhill from now on.
Mel got broken back for the 3rd time, ended up losing the tiebreak 7-5, dropped serve at the start of the 2nd, broke back and is now 0-30 down on serve.
