Kyle's not due to meet Crivoi until the last 8 (or 9?). He would need to get past the 7th seed Michalicka (WR 331) first.

I made that 6 mins between end of set 1 and beginning of set 2. Strategic MTO perhaps, drawing inspiration from Azarenka's disgusting performance earlier

.....if it was (I'd put money on it) it worked a treat. Kyle 0-1*. When will this be stopped!!!???

From 6-2 5-2* Kyle lost 8 games in a row......easily as well.

How does that happen?

Unlikely to be core fitness as he has a track record of many 3 set wins in juniors and seniors alike.

Exactly like the 5 games lost in a row from a winning position in last years final FL futures.

Curious. No obvious explanation.

....Unless he needs/wants to come home quickly......would kind of explain why he got into a winning position, then fell away.........but that's not very British, and I presume there are rules about it, so very unlikely! Actually scores suggest he's still fighting, so this is all very confusing.

Impossible to speculate what happened - but I am going to try anyway.

As we have all noted, Kyle has had to come through 4 rounds of qualies in each of the USA 3 tournaments. Perhaps the fatigue just caught up with him and he "hit the wall" as the marathon runners would say.

Bob. Prefer your theory to mine too, if truth be told! Although I'd say Kyle appears to be much stronger and fitter at the same age.

Freerider. I'm probably wrong on this one, after all it is a bit far fetched. Idiotic definitely not - these are young kids playing in tournaments where the short term result isn't that important in the longer term scheme of things - more the process of coping with weeks of high level competition against men day in day out. I suspect that Liam, Luke and James have all long gone back to the UK, so he's on his own (as a player) for the first time. And with 13 wins out of 15 already, it was very much mission accomplished before this match. As I said I'm probably wrong, but I'd love to know what really happened out there.

After being broken to love in the first game, Kyle breaks straight back.

Games now going with serve : Kyle leads 3-2*
