Other people's rankings this week are also affected by the fact that last year's Monte Carlo drops off this week, not next.
Mm, this is potentially going to get quite messy for the nrxt week or 2. I wondered if special arrangements were made to keep all 13 Grand Slams / Masters Series events in the rankings score even if dates didn't really tie in. However, stevegtennis.com does say Houston & Valencia will be added and last year's Monte Carlo dropped for the next rankings.
Does this mean then that rankings will be based on 12 GS / Masters tournaments ( i.e. no Monte Carlo ) plus best 6 other, then revert back to 13 + 5 after Monte Carlo ?
This week's new rankings list shows a rise of 1 place to 44. Although there were no ATP tournaments last week, there have been some changes - the one affecting Andy is that Serra's points have dropped from 857 to 782, and his ranking from 38 to 49. The only explanation I can think of for this is that he perhaps had a big Challenger success at this time last year which dropped off last week?
Yes, Serra won the Mexico City Challenger in the week beginnimng 04/04/05 so it has dropped off. Looks as if it was 90 points for winning this since his 18th score now ( the replacement ) is 15 points.

I fully intend letting tennisstats.com or whatever it is called work all that out!
He's gonna have to start winning asoon as he has decent points to defend for the next few weeks with Wimbledon and the success in the US Challengers and then of course Bangkok further on in the year.
I updated the post cos i think madeline is away - andy went down to 36 last week but is back to his career high ranking of 35 (and he wasnt even playing!!!)
