and crivoi won the final dispatching of the top seed 4 and 2, just shows the standard kyle is showing atm, hopefully kyle can qualify this week and avoid crivoi for as long as possible to see just where he is at
bit of a random stat, but was just looking at kyle's recent record in the senior game, and he has lost only two matches to players outside the top 500 in the last 8 months, one of them being liam! and at the same time have realised just how ridiclously strong these tournaments are, i knew they were strong, but bloody hell

That's what happens when you have no challengers and only a handful of futures.
Beware! Kyle's FQR opponent was ranked top 300 for 5 years in a row until 2012 (CH 182), until an injury kept him out of singles for 9 months. His ranking around 1000 is a red herring. Yet another huge ask, just to get out of qualies. Now 8 straight set wins in 9 matches for 1 ranking point!
I think I may be missing something (I'm new to looking at acceptance lists), but as far as I can see the number 1 seed for Turkey in week 3 is ranked at 212, which would also make him the top seed in the US. And last in in Turkey is 483, with US 494, Germany 473, France 442, and Israel 545.
So the only ones where even Mr Edmund would make the MD cutoff would be GB, Mexico and Israel. There are good reasons for leaving GB, which leaves Mexico and Israel. On balance, given the security risks in the Middle East and the fact that the Mexican tournaments are in Ixtapa (Chiapas) followed by Tijuana (border with California ... quite a distance, and not the safest of places), the US looks like a fairly rational choice.
Edit -- Oops. Just realised that Israeli cutoff would also be high, though perhaps a chance with withdrawals ....

Both James and Kyle lost in straight sets in the FQR.
The 4 boys now have another 4 match qualification tournament to look forward to, starting Friday.
At least Kyle is getting to play lots of matches. 10 in 2 weeks. And the opposition is very good in the main.
But if next week is another wash out in terms of points and/or MD action, that would be 1 point for 4 players in 3 weeks, despite playing above their current ranking. Team spirit, lots of match play, and learning about hard knocks may be good take-aways, but even before the trip began, it seemed very likely that only a tiny handful of ranking points was a realistic outcome. How does that feel on the plane coming home? obviously there are almost no points to show for the long trip, but would their confidence be higher or lower after the 3 or 4 weeks? I will be intrigued what sort of tournaments they are advised to enter in February and March, to "build" on this start to the year.
good luck to them in Weston, of course.

After Sunrise, Kyle and the other 3 muscateers are all entered in Weston Florida next week.
Don't assume it gets any easier. The MD cut-off is slightly better than in Sunrise, but not enough to ensure that any of them make MD unless something dramatic happens in the next couple of days. So it's 4 rounds of qualies once again against a high quality field. The cut-off next week is currently at 444, which is more challenging than the $15k in Germany! In fact even the #1 seed in the MD of next weeks Turkey $10k wouldn't make the MD at Weston!!!
Is it just me? Is there a method in the madness? What does a good result from the US Tour look like?
Wishing Kyle and James best of luck for this afternoon - both will need big performances to progress to the MD.
The fields for these events are probably a bit stronger than they expected but I still think that getting a good number of matches under their belts early in the season would be of significant benefit.

Not sure about that. Looking on the ITF site, the #1 seed in Turkey for next week is WR 212 and the cut off for the MD is 483 - not too different from Weston.
