I don't think she should be too disappointed. She was obviously hampered, hopefully she can manage her schedule carefully. There's definitely more to come from her and back-to-back 3R is still pretty good for an 18 year old, great she wants more.
I got the impression from her PC that she was gutted that the shoulder problem emerged last night and so as a result wasn't able to do herself justice today, I think she is still happy with the way her game is progressing just hoping that the shoulder problem is not too serious to keep her out for too long.
Heather and Laura are next scheduled to play in Thailand on the 28th so Laura will have over a week to check what the problem is and decide whether to rest or play.
Laura had a shoulder problem at the end of last year too, which also happened after after she won a 3 hour match in Guangzhou so it does seem that perhaps her service motion puts too much stress on her shoulder in such long matches.
Gutted that Laura lost, although I was quite wary of Sloane as she is another up and coming youngster and has beaten Larua recently, also because Laura seems to be able to turn it on better against the top (10?) players. I would have been more confident if they had been on Rod Laver too.
Shame about the injury. I haven't looked at the pressers etc yet to see how much it actually affected her.
Still on the bright side, it's nice to see our expectations rising with Hev and Laura. I now find myself wondering whether a British woman will make the second week instead of the second round
Anyone (Steven ) done the stats on where their WRs should be after this slam?
Overally, this was a really positive tournament and the best thing from both Heather and Laura was that they reached the 3rd round without being close to their best form. Excellent fighting qualities from losing positions from both.
They have also both been targetting getting a seeding for RG/Wimbledon and by my reckoning they will need 2 good tournament runs between now and May which is more than possible.
It has also been a really exciting tournanent to watch if a little exhausting with all the matches in the middle of the night. I'm certainly going to appreciate a full night's sleep tonight.
Laura is now in exalted company in suffering an injury-affected defeat to Sloane Stephens.
She tweeted this morning to say that she is back in London - does that mean she is not playing Pattaya City? If so then I think it's a wise decision but hope the shoulder injury isn't too bad.
Lucy Shuker lost in the Wheelchair Singles SF to the #2 seed, 7-6(1) 7-5 She made tomorrows doubles final though with her Dutch partner - fully half the entrants are Dutch!

I think that's fairly normal - the entries per country would have been limited at the Paralympics but the women's doubles Final was on the day I was there and that was an all-Dutch affair!

R5L suggesting that there is an Australia Day fireworks display scheduled in 25 minutes, and the match will be suspended for it if it is still underway.
How stupid am I being to have to ask the question as to whether this is true? Surely they're kidding, but all flu-ed up, I couldn't really decide. Someone please confirm that CAN'T be true, surely?
It happens at some point during the AO every year - the time I remember best is at 6-3 1-2 in the Murray-Nadal quarter-final three years ago that Rafa ended up retiring from.
