RE: Week 3 - Australian Open (women's)

Heather must now be rated as the worlds greatest escape artist - at least on a tennis court.

This win might take Heather into the top 40 (in-running, she is at 37) but it depends on other results - based on the current ranking list, she would move up to about WR 41.

Pervak's coach Alina Jidkova just tweeted: "I felt like I was the only one cheering for Ksenia the whole match! Not fair, but the english fans helped Heather to win."

Steven - is there a link to the in running ranking's anywhere? I'm interested to see who could affect her ranking.

Amazing amazing amazing, lets be honest Hev didn't play well until the third when Pervak had nothing left. But again just pure guts on those mps down when it looked all over saw her home. Hopefully she can play alot better aginst Radwanska with the pressure off and have a high quality match. Crowd support saw her through and was unbelievable.

TheBoiledEgg's running rankings on tennisforum http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?t=450900 are usually pretty accurate. He has her currently at 38 with Vesnina (who plays Lepchenko) the only player who can overtake her tonight.

And this one provides a bit of information about who they can overtake and who to look out for.

Well done Hev, I think this match really did show Hevs strengths And weaknesses. I don't know if anyone else will agree but although she has a good forehand, her technique I find is quite strange and she always looks like she is leaning back on it and therefore no power is generated. I know she has been working on her serve but I have found that her serve is pretty decent ( maybe not second serve but that's usual for most players).

Although it's not that accurate - it say's Heather will pass Laura unless Laura win's 3 more matches. How do you pass someone you are already in front of?

What is does indicate (hopefully accurately) is if Heather has another couple of good tournaments and there are a couple of injuries, it's not inconceivable that she's seeded for Wimbledon!
