I've always been pretty impressed with Liam, and I reckon what choices he might get flak over is the least of his concerns. He's impressed me ever since the late inclusion of Evo in place of Jamie Baker and has continued to do so.
Yes, I was surprised that Dom or Jonny was not out there as back up doubles rather than Ross, but once Andy appeared well enough, I reckon that was immaterial and Andy and Colin would have still been the choice, a judgement call which many agreed with, both before and after the event.
Sad to see him go but the obvious and pragmatic thing to do.
He's made a Herculean effort to get back to his best and with limited success. No one can doubt the guys commitment and courage.
Kudos to Colin for sticking with him despite his points coming off; hope he can find a steady partner now.
No worries regarding Ross- has a Stirling career ahead of him.
Seems a bizzare decision, so much he didn't achieve which he could have tried to do. His results this year have been fine, okay not as good as previously but good after a year out. But doing things like taking tournament directors posts and playing World Team Tennis got in the way. Plenty of time to do these things and more once you've maximised your first career.
None of us really know how difficult this year has been for Ross but it seems obvious to me that it didn't take long for him to realise that he was never going to get back to the level he once had. I think some people always had an overly optimistic view of how feasible it was for him to ever be 100% after such a serious illness.
