RE: Week 2 - WTA International ($235K) - Hobart, Australia Hard

Should be an interesting match tomorrow night between the two young Americans. Stephens v Lauren Davies. Also Madison Keys is into the qf in Sydney. We're not the only country with a few youngsters coming through...

Couldn't see an AO topic and didn't want to mess up such an important one, but the qualie draw is up for the girls.

Very good for JoKo, pretty dire for Anne

JoKo is in the section with one to qualify from
BIRNEROVA, Eva CZE [11]
ZHOU, Yi-Miao CHN
SEVASTOVA, Anastasija LAT
KONTA, Johanna GBR
VOGT, Stephanie LIE
GAVRILOVA, Daria RUS
PEREIRA, Teliana BRA
BOUCHARD, Eugenie CAN [24]

First match Sevastova.

Anne has Malek and a lot of very hungry focused young americans, one to qualify from
MALEK, Tatjana GER [4]
BRENGLE, Madison USA
SEMA, Yurika JPN
GIBBS, Nicole USA
DUSHEVINA, Vera RUS
PEGULA, Jessica USA
MIN, Grace USA
KEOTHAVONG, Anne GBR [22]

good luck y'all

Just watched the Davis/Stephens QF and boy oh boy those two are scary good. Sloane won in 3
Both combined the power of Laura AND the movement and defense of Heather pretty much non stop for 2h 45 mins. Great match & of higher quality than the Li Na/Aga SF in Sydney earlier
Davis might finish top 30 this year if she can play like that even just every other tournament and the last 4 times I seen her she pretty much plays at that level. Stephens should finish top 20

Praying our girls don't get either of them in the AO draw

Davis is certainly an inspiration for all smaller players only 5ft 2 tall and clearly played her best level today but I would be shocked if she made it into the top 50 this year. Agree with Stephens though top 20 this year is a dead cert.

Ms. Stephens is very exciting. US women looking pretty good in general ... even beyond the most dominant player of her generation.

Sloane Stephens has the ability both to hit big shots and move quickly around the court which certainly is a great combination. What sets her apart from the other tennagers at the moment though is the ability to perform to a good level week in week out.
