Wow if ever a scoreline didn't represent the toughness of a match. I can't imagine they'll ever be many cases of a player saving 11/11 break points. Winning those key points just seemed to demolish her opponents resolve, to set up a very solid 6-3 6-1 win.
Not sure what we can take from that win, other than JoKo showing loads of guts and raising her game when it mattered.
Well, those two things are enough to be going on with
I did expect Jo to get the upset (and I get the impression I wasn't the only one!), both for the obvious reasons and because knowing she had beaten MTTF convincingly on on her own turf (or rather her own red devil dust) must have added to her confidence, even if that meeting was a long time ago. These are exactly the kind of matches she needs to be winning convincingly if she want to make the top 100, and it looks like she did exactly what was needed.

8pts I believe, with 4 points being her current 16th score.
Well done Jo! 12 points if she wins again, and 20 if she wins a third match and qualifies. In fact you get 1 point and some money just for turning up.
Always thought it was a bit harsh that in most men's challenger qualifiers you get no points at all until you qualify (even after 2 wins in many cases).
Well there is nothing like facing potential problems head on at the first opportunity - Johanna returning to play in Australia. It will be interesting if she later meets an Australian.
