If you read what I said, I wasn't commenting on whether tha LTA have done goods things (they clearly have in parts) or not.
All I said was that when GB players perform, whether they were part of the LTA assembly line or not, Mr Draper has shown an unerring habit of taking advantage of every media outlet possible to congratulate them (no problem with that) and linking their success to the grand plan that the LTA was implementing (a very cheap shot, and often very misleading; big problem with that). On the other hand, when things don't go well, he disappears completely. Roland Garros would appear to be a good example of the latter.
Yes I agree Korriban, and i get what you were saying. I was more looking at the thread in general bumped with reference to your post. I guess after so many years I've found the 'find any excuse to have a pop at the LTA' bit kind of tiresome (not from you btw, just in general).
I'm pretty sure between us on the board we could write every article that will be written during Wimbledon. Same stuff rolled out every year.
"BBC tennis commentator Andrew Castle has ensured Roger Draper's successor as Lawn Tennis Association chief executive will remain a talking point throughout Wimbledon.
Castle has had to make an official apology to a furious former GB Davis Cup captain, David Lloyd, for suggesting that personal problems could rule him out from replacing the hugely overpaid Draper, who leaves in September.
Castle made his comments during a rain delay conversation with Sue Barker at the Aegon Championships at Queens Club, with interest around the LTA appointment heightened by the widespread disbelief at Sports Agendas revelation that Draper was earning £640,000 a year for running an under-performing organisation.
The Castle apology appeared on the BBC sport website and said: BBC commentator Andrew Castle suggested there were issues in the personal life of David Lloyd which made him unsuitable to be considered for the role of CEO of the LTA. Mr Castle would wish to make clear that his comments were without foundation and apologises to Mr Lloyd for any embarrassment or distress caused. "
Ha Ha , absolutely no issues in the personal life of Roger Draper then ?
