He'd be foolish to retire, as long as he gets within the Wimbledon WC bracket, that will bring him a good amount of money, many players from different countries are worse off than him.

Yes, he's debunked it and the original PA article in the Sporting Life (which covers Bally too) is very balanced - you can pick a "he might retire" quote out of it, but it's pretty misleading - he's just being honest about what every player in their late 20s ranked at his level no doubt considers every year.
