The two opponents may be a bit underrranked, but their results this year still do suggest that these are pretty decent draws.

Yes, I'd say they're decent draws. The only reason for drawing attention to the junior rankings was to make it clear they are unlikely to be completely one-sided matches, but it's not as if they were top 5 or top 10 juniors who are making Laura-like strides in seniors at the moment - they could have had much worse R1 draws.

L16: Naomi Broady WR 278 v (3) Paula Kania (POL) WR 214 (CH 207 last week)

H2H 1-0, Naomi thrashed Kania 2 & 0 in Grenoble at the start of this year, though their rankings have gone in opposite directions since ... and not in a good way.

Lisa won 5 games in a row to go 7-5 2-0* up but Maleckova has just held serve to stop that run of last games.

I certainly get the impression that Brits have saved more than their fair share of match points over recent months.  Though Andy has helped to redress the balance a bit the other way  cry

Lisa got broken back and had to save 4 match points in game 12 ... but she did and then (from Naomi) "Great tiebreak by @lisawhybourn finished off with an ace. 1 set all..."
