The 1st page of the twitter list could do with editing sometime, dropping the ones that are no longer active, adding new ones like Jade and updating the ones that have changed like Heather. Running down the list can sometimes be a quite amusing way of passing a few spare minutes. A bunch of girls travelling the world can sometimes get into quite hilarious situations if their twitters are anything to go by.

That will be Danielle's third ranking event so she should join the list of girls with an international ranking once these results are included.

Sabrina was serving at 0-6 0-2 0-30 against the world ranked 564 (i.e. not Serena Williams), and I was about to write something about at what point you decide it's unlikely or unrealistic to think that you would ever make a good living from tennis on the pro tour.

Sabrina then won the next 3 games!!!!

Not saying she will win or even get a set (I'd not put any money on it), but it does (once again) prove why tennis is such a great game both to play, to watch and to follow as a fan.

Update: Sabrina lost 0-6 5-7. Which is certainly more competitive than 0-6 0-6, a scoreline that looked all too likely at one point.

Thing is tennis has a wonderful scoring system and I wouldn't change it for a moment ( I hate the doubles going to game point either way at deuce ).  But it does sometimes really exagerrate just how in control someone is.  We discussed this some time ago looking at some apparent thrashings for Heather and Laura, OK, not 6-0s but like 6-1 6 -2 scorelines from memory.  And they were sometimes getting really well over half the points with the vast majority of games going to deuce and indeed some game points. Just couldn't get games really on the board and that is an art that the better / more experienced players seem to have.

Sometimes just needs a little change in momentum for big turnarounds as we so often see, much more particularly with the women where the serve is much more generally just starting the pont rather than making playerss such strong favourites for games.

The number of times folk have given up too soon on players in a match, although in this case I must admit I probably would have at that 0-6 0 -2 0-30 point, more especially if I knew that games hadn't been close ( don't know if they were )  hmm

A big surprise there from Anna, and another very good result from Harriet, who seems to be very good at holding her nerve when things get tight for one so young!

I was expecting 1 Brit to get through and (slightly forlornly) hoping for 2, so very happy with 3/6!

Harriet beat Bowtell and Brogan beat the 7th seed. Peterson lost in 3 after taking the first set. That's Kinard to take as DelBoy might say.
