next opponent for Boggo is Jack Sock, only played 3 games as Michael russell retired.

Sock is heralded as one of the future stars of the US game, will be very tough.

Boggo has played Sock on hard before as well, beating him 2 & 4 in Tulsa last year.

So Alex won 6-2 6-4 and Sock won 6-4 6-3 in Weston, Florida. Given a choice of repeat victory, I'll take 2&4, ours from Tulsa. ashamed

not wanting to think too far ahead, but to win this whole thing Alex will need to set up a serious yank bashing streak, but if, if if he does, that would put him right back in contention with Baker and Ward rankings wise.

so it is a repeat, of the bad kind. sock wins 64 63.

some very iffy line calls in the match. 2 aces called in that last game for sock, and especially in the 1st set, the unpire overruled a point on the far basline against alex. alex didnt even realise till after the next point too!

i guess it was always going to be tough to beat 5 amewrians in a row with home advantage.

good week by alex, he played ok in that match, was just punished by some sloppy points. sock served really well too.

Good to see Alex playing and winning at a higher level.

I've never understood why Alex hasn't done better really. With his talent i alwasy thought he'd break into the top 100 at some point

Probably too much expectation on his shoulders, if we had the depth of talent of say France or Spain, i'd say Boggo would probably have reached the top 100
