Week 45: Challenger (€42,500) - Loughborough, UK (indoor hard) - doubles

Given the number of Brits in the doubles, I thought I'd start a dedicated thread. wink

R1:  (1) Jamie Delgado & Ken Skupski vs (WC) Richard Gabb & Ashley Hewitt

R1:  Josh Goodall & Jamie Murray ( disbelief ) vs David Guez & Vincent Millot (FRA/FRA)

R1:  (WC) James Marsalek & Darren Walsh vs Niels Desein & Peter Torebko (BEL/GER)

R1:  (WC) Richard Bloomfield & Harry Meehan vs Thomas Fabbiano & Daniel Glancy (ITA/IRL)

Interesting to see Darren Walsh paired with someone other than Adham El-Effendi, but nevertheless good to see him in a domestic tournament.  Good Luck emoticon (Word Emoticons) to him & James.

Steady start for James & Darren:  3-2* in the first set.

Richard & Ashley seemed to be matching the top seeds shot for short until the final stages of the first-set tie-break, which they lost by 3-7.

Still a tussle:  the young upstarts break to 15 in the fifth game of the second set, but the old hands break back to 40 immediately.  *3-3 Delgo & Skups.

So that ends Jamie and Ken's season. It's been okay, I guess with 2 ATP finals and a 3rd round US Open. Certainly has been Delgado's best season. They'll continue next season I presume, although not sure how much further they can go.

This probably ruins Josh's chances of making Helsinki qualies?

SF: (4) Purav Raja & Divij Sharan (IND/IND) beat Josh Goodall & Jamie Murray 7-6(3) 2-6 [12-10]

And as expected Josh didn't make Helsinki qualies.
