With many of the players in Osaka decamping to South Korea, this is quite a strong field for a Grade 2 event, with Katie Boulter and Anna Brogan forced to qualify - which they did in style. All the draws are much tougher than the first round draws in Osaka, with Katie's opponent having won the Thai Grade 2 last week.
Two good wins for Katy and Harriet against strong opposition. They have teamed up again in the doubles, but are unseeded, so have to face Okuno (plus new partner) again
R1 (L32)
(Q) Katie Boulter (GBR) v Kamonwan Buayam (THA) (3) Katy Dunne (GBR) d. Danielle Wagland (AUS) 6-4 6-2 (Q) Anna Brogan (GBR) v (4) Ipek Soylu (TUR) Harriet Dart (GBR) d. Nam Yeon Jun (KOR) 6-3 6-3
R2
(3) Katy Dunne (GBR) v Yan Wang (CHN) (8) Mami Adachi (JPN) v Harriet Dart (GBR)
An impressive win today for Katie over last week's Thai Grade 2 champ - she will need another top performance tomorrow against the top seed (who Katy edged out last week). Good news in the doubles where Katy and Harriet overcame Ayaka Okuno at last, and there were wins for Anna & Katie (with their respective partners) as well

When I look at this tournament name, I can't help but think there is a terrible pun in there somewhere screaming to get out. Meanwhile, on court thinks went a tad well in singles:
Some very good wins against strong opponents, but it doesn't get any easier for Katie. Xu is the highest ranked '98, on a 12 match winning streak, after successive titles in Grade 2 and Grade 3 events. Hopefully the retirement is precautionary.
A highly productive tour, with all 4 still involved in this tournament and a finalist guaranteed in doubles again
Doubles SF
Boulter/Soylu (GBR/TUR) v Bains/Brogan (AUS/GBR)
Naiktha Bains is the 14 year old Aussie who was born in the UK and hoped to play for GB after emigrating, but the family blamed the LTA for lack of co-operation. She teamed up with Katie last week and Anna this.
The penny finally dropped as to how to end the Chinese girl's winning streak, so we have a magnificent conclusion to the Tour of an all-British final. Harriet has shown what she is capable of when she plays a run of events, rather than dipping in for isolated events mixed with Pro Circuit events on other surfaces with little reward, as earlier in the year. Katy will move into the top 30 if she wins, whilst Harriet may just sneak into the top 100 if she wins.
Any idea how long ago the last all-british final was at G2 or above?
It all depends what counts as an all-Britsh final
If you include players who are now British then it is 2008 (Jo Konta d. Laura Robson in the Grade 1 Santa Croce, Italy)
If you don't (Jo regarded herself as British but was representing Australia at the time) then I think (combination of memory and checking a few likely suspects) that the last was Anne K defeating Elena B at Bisham Abbey (Grade 2) in 1999, but I might have missed one.
Very good to see how these players have been competing lately. I had almost got the impression that some were almost writing this generation off and looking much more to such as the 1998 borns as the next ones to look out for, maybe to some extent myself
Maybe they are not absolute top world class, but they do certainly seem to be improving, and let's hope to see that continuing.

Double success to end the Tour. The three protagonists (ie not Anna) are also down for the major North American tournaments later in the month to try and continue their improved results against stronger fields.

Agreed - I think the catalyst was the Maureen Connolly Trophy in August, where they worked with Judy Murray and achieved the sort of results which clearly gave them a confidence boost, which underlies their subsequent performances.
