Good win, which will certainly propel Amanda up to a CH on Monday week on top of maybe inching it up on Monday. Be great if she could add at least one further win this week.

Good week already for the ever improving and steadily climbing Amanda. She was only 18th highest ranked of the 32 MD players
Amanda also played doubles; with less success: WD R1: CARRERAS, Amanda/HERMOSO, Ximena (GBR/MEX) 947 lost to DUARTE, Ana-Clara/GONCALVES, Paula Cristina (BRA/BRA) 736 3-6 2-6
If the Argentine Tennis Association twitter is to be believed (and they've been right every time this week so far), Amanda has really outdone herself today!
SF: Amanda Carreras WR 384 beat Raluca Olaru (ROU) WR 259 (CH 53 in 2009) by 3 & 3
This win, against last week's runner-up in Brasilia, who had already taken out the 1st & 7th seeds this week, takes Amanda into her first 25K singles Final and will give her a ranking in the 330s, about 50 places above the career high she set on Monday and about 250 places higher than she was at the start of the year.

Lots of praise for Amanda on Tennisforum. People who watched her play her second round match describe her game as aggressive but also not going for too much too soon, but generally aiming to dictate play.
Olaru has a lot of pedigree so will be tough, but I'll be interested to see how Mandy does against a higher calibre opponent (though she has taken some impressive scalps already this week).
There's a pic of Amanda after her QF win yesterday at http://pic.twitter.com/2cdSXpGO - the journo who tweeted it also interviewed her yesterday, tweeting a few minutes ago as follows - I can't find the actual interview published anywhere yet:
Raul de Kemmeter@raulfiber
De 22 años, actualmente #Carreras ocupa su mejor ubicación en el ranking (381°) y hace 1 mes perdió la final del 10K de Madrid con Tati Bua
Me explicó cómo funciona el tenis femenino en GBR y me dijo que la LTA (asociación británica) sólo apoya a los Top 200 del ranking
