Amazing! The junior hunting pack shows the value of having a team of similarly aged/ranked peers to motivate players

L16: Kyle Edmund WR 810 v (Q) Florent Diep (FRA) WR 1102 (CH 673 in 2011)

Rather unexpectedly, Diep upset 8th seed Fratangelo in straight sets today!

Diep might be tougher than his ranking suggests. No matches in 2-3 months, so perhaps fresh following an injury. He steamrollered Fratangelo from middle of set 1.

Fratangelo's performance (losing 8 straight games to an opponent ranked hundreds of places below him) spookily similar to Oli in Israel last week. Both appeared to give up or melt down. Both were top 5 juniors in 2011, both won junior grand slams and got a fair amount of press in their home countries. It just hasn't happened for the American, less highlights than Oli for sure. Both will probably need the next 2 months to reflect and refocus - mentally I suspect as much as anything else.

Can we hope for a second all Brit all 17yo QF in the US in 2 weeks? I think it's a good bet. Fingers crossed again

Somehow, I doubt it very much - given that Liam is 18yo wink

That is a very impressive way to obtain a ranking.

And all 4 matches in the L16 involving Brits are on court at the same time.

Could be an exciting couple of hours.

Yes, just noticed that as I looked up the OoP details for the GB T25 table - a sneaky trick to prevent them from cheering each other on? LOL

It would be exciting except that we'll only be able to follow one of the matches, I assume.

We definitely need an "on-site" reporter for this.  Do you think the LTA will pay for my flight as I would be happy to volunteer smile
