Boys & Girls: ITF 4 Almere Autumn Indoor, Netherlands - Grade 4 (Week 43)

Earlier in the month Jazzi Plews and Gabi Taylor made impressive strides in junior ITFs. The third member of the successful European Summer Cup under 14 team now gets her chance. Despite her impressive run at the Glasgow $25K Maia Lumsden was forced to qualify here, and it wasn''t entirely straightforward - two of her matches included an extended set. She may be glad of the practice though as she has a tough first round draw against the French player who shared 2 finals with Gabi.

(Q) Jaume Antoni Munar Clar (ESP)   v Isaac Stoute (GBR)

Maia was taken to 3 sets but came through the French challenge and there was a welcome rare win for Pippa (only her second in ITFs this year, and against a player she lost to earlier on). If they both win their second round matches they will meet again in the quarters

Pippa's poor 2012 continues, so there is no rematch of Glasgow, but there is a good win for Millie Stretton

Millie will hit a new CH with that win
Maia will be close to her CH.

A win together in the doubles against the local WCs will definitely see both at new CH.

Maia suffered her first defeat of the year in junior ITFs, and as they didn't win in the doubles (unfortunately they didn't actually draw the WCs) there won't be a career high for Maia

QF

Katharina Hobgarski (GER) d. (Q) Maia Lumsden (GBR) 4-6 6-3 6-4
Yana Morderger (GER) d. Millie Stretton (GBR) 6-0 6-0
