Status (please read this & post if you get a message rejected as possible spam)

Hello,

My recent posts have been rejected as spam. Have I contravened the rules?.

Didn't know where to put this, and, I suppose if this is rejected too, then no one will see it anyway!

Kind Regards,

insomniacfolder

Edit: changed title to make it easier for people to find if they have the same problem

Did the rejected posts have links in them? As far as I can tell, a few days ago Activeboard started treating random posts with links in them as potential spam. The mods see them with a flag saying they may be spam (though it's not that obvious until you know where to look - just above the name of the poster on the left) and as soon as a mod approves them, everyone will see them.

Given that we get mercifully little real spam on here, it's a bit of a pain, but when it happens, we'll approve posts that are clearly not spam as soon as we notice them.

I've even had to approve a couple of my own posts, which seems really bizarre! LOL (bizarre in the sense that even posts from mods are flagged as spam and in the sense that you can approve your post)

Btw if a post is awaiting approval, I don't think the thread goes to the top of the recent posts list even on a mod's screen, so if you get a post rejected, it might be worth posting on this thread to let us know which thread the post is awaiting approval on so that one of us can get to it quicker.

Another 'enhancement' I don't like it that they seem to have put a subscribe button at the bottom right of the quick reply box, which is where the post button is on many other forums (I don't think it was there before, anyway) - I've lost a few posts and subscribed to a few threads by mistake as a result! furious

Thank you, for the swift response, and its very helpful nature.

One of the posts certainly did have a link in it, but the rest I think not.

I will track it now, keeping a separate copy of them for a while to try and clarify for future. The one above certainly got through then at least!

Most of them were, as ever, just meaningless random comments and not worth bothering about. However, I did post one last night sometime to the "British women discussion section" » "Laura now GB no 1" thread which, alone, might be worth rescuing if possible.

Obviously, I'd normally post a relevant link here , but given what you say above...

Agreed, there are several things, that if designing the 'ideal' tool, one might change about Activeboard - one particular of mine is the "Mark All as Read" button only appears on the top level domain, not the sub forums - but, it does, and you all, that have organised and maintained it, do a great job, and I thank you for it.

Kind Regards,
insomniacfolder

That one is now approved so should show up for you - I assume it was the link that caused the 'problem' there. It would make far more sense if we could also approve the poster so that it never happens to them again - maybe they'll get around to an enhancement like that at some point.

Thanks very much for sorting that out.
I'll keep copies of lengthier posts for a while, just in case. Perhaps it's a timely object lesson to be more concise.
