L16: Johanna KONTA (GBR) WR 152  lost to Nastassja BURNETT (ITA) WR 150   6 - 3   2 - 6   6 - 4

Just saw the last set, but seemed very much like one that got away, and on a better day,,,  cry

If anyone is trying to work out who's who, Jo is the one with long dark hair wearing black ... and the Italian is the other one with long dark hair wearing black. no

I'll try again! Jo seems to have her left leg strapped and is the slightly less twitchy player of the two.

They need to sort out that court - it looks about a foot longer down the middle than at the sides!

4 DFs in a game ( the first looked dubious, but not the last 3 from advantage up )  sees Jo broken again.

2 - 3 *

Better serving at 3 - 5  15 - 40  helps Jo get out of a  2 MP down hole, but now must break

4 - 5 *

Fairly standard for Johanna: ~3 hours on court, majority of games go to deuce, some games with deuces/BP's in double figures, match looks lost, then it looks won (or vice versa)...
You usually get your moneys worth with her at the moment!

I think she is still down to play in Barnstaple. Hopefully she'll polish up everything a little by then, and get some more wins. She seems close to pushing on, but everything perhaps still needs honing just that little bit more - as this result, and the one in Shrewsbury vs. Coin illustrate.

Still, already been a good year, and looking promising for next.

Yes tennis not quite clicking like it was at the US open, but still playing OK. Thigh problem never seems to go away completely and her game as insomiacfolder says just not fully polished yet. Hopefully she can secure a few more wins before the end of the season, train hard without injury and comeback strong at the start of next. Still convinced she's a top 100 player in the making but that there will be probably be alot of swings and roundabouts in getting there.
