Van Uytvanck won the 2nd set 6-2. Sam broke in the 1st game of the 3rd but is having to fight off break points in the 6th game.

Sam holds on to lead 4-2* in the 3rd and it then looks like the Belgian is having an easy service game only for Sam to pull it back to deuce.

Sam has won 9 ITF doubles titles before (including two 25K with Mariana Alves last year) but has never won an ITF singles title, not even a 10K.

Well done Sam smile An inspiration for the many players we have at American Universities/Colleges, showing that it is possible to return after a modest junior career and make a significant impression on the ITF Pro circuit

Amazing to think that until this week, the last time Sam managed back to back singles main draw wins in a 25K (or a double figure singles points haul from any tournament) was December last year!

This win will take her up to about WR 306, smashing her old career high, though she still has those 44 points from four Australian 25Ks to come off in November and December.

Yes, she's a DA for Saguenay 50K next week (or was the last time I looked anyway) and a DA for the 50K in Toronto the week after.
